Dr. Wes Tunnell delivers
address at commencement

HRI's Associate Director Dr. Wes Tunnell joined U.S. Rep. Solomon P. Ortiz in speaking to over 400 graduates during Dr. Wes Tunnellthe Texas A&M Corpus Christi's 2007 summer commencement held Aug. 4 at the American Bank Center Arena. The ceremony was broadcast live via two local TV stations. The title of his commencement address was, "How to be Successful and Fulfilled in Your Career and Life."

Dr. Robert Furgason
speaks to group in Turkey

HRI’s Executive Director Dr. Robert Furgason gave a presentation entitled, “Preparing the Chemical Engineering Student for the Jobs of the 21st. Century,” at an international meeting in Ankara, Turkey in May 2007. “Although we don’t have engineering programs associated with HRI yet, they are being discussed and planned,” Furgason said. “Most of the characteristics I described in my speech for chemical engineering graduates also apply to most scientific/technical graduates such as those at the HRI.”

HRI adds two professors
to endowed faculty

Joining the three endowed chairs, the HRI has added two professors to its endowed faculty, Dr. James Gibeaut and Dr. Greg Stunz. Gibeaut will lead the coastal and marine GIS research programmatic area at HRI, while Stunz will lead the ocean and human health area. Their positions at HRI officially begin with the fall semester, September 1.
