Wesley, Franks M.S.
Wesley Franks is the Operations Manager for the Harte Research Institute. Wesley received his M.S. in Biology as well as his B.S. from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. As Operations Manager of HRI, Wesley oversees daily operations and manages the use of assets such as the boats, vehicles, SCUBA diving gear, etc. Wesley is also the HRI Property Officer and a member of HRI’s safety team. His extensive experience in field and laboratory research work with various types of flora and fauna has allowed Wesley to work with the diverse multi-disciplinary staff here at HRI. He also takes pride helping to manage and coordinate “Sink Your Shucks,” the first oyster restoration program in Texas to reclaim oyster shells from local restaurants to build new reefs and habitat for marine organisms under Ms. Gail Sutton.
Wesley’s graduate work was on biofouling communities in the Upper Laguna Madre, Texas. As a student, he assisted in collecting macroalgae and photographing multiple species for the HRI Book Series book titled Marine Plants of the Texas Coast. As an active member in multiple botanical and marine science groups he provides advice, leadership, and lectures on various topics.
