Director of A&M-CC research institute to retire

June 18, 2007 - CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Former Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi president Robert Furgason will retire Dec. 31 from his position as executive director of the university's Harte Research Institute of Gulf of Mexico Studies, the university announced Monday.

Furgason served as university president from 1990 to 2004 before taking his position with the institute, a research facility focused on gulf sustainability and conservation.

University President Flavius Killebrew has selected Trent Hill, vice president for Institutional Advancement, and Frank Pezold, dean of the College of Science and Technology, as co-chairs of the search committee to select Furgason's replacement.
