The Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies will host an informational panel discussion, Oil Spills and Deepwater Horizon, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019 in HRI Room 127 on the TAMUCC campus. This presentation is being made on behalf of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program: “Advancing the Culture of Safety and Risk Management in the Energy Sector.” Members of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi community are invited to join us

Specific objectives for the project are:

  • Explore the U.S. industrial/commercial culture surrounding risk management and safety
  • Learn how U.S. industrial safety practices have evolved in response to accidents and challenges.
  • See industrial safety practices in action in the U.S. energy industry
  • Compare U.S. and Japanese industrial culture and evaluate whether some U.S. practices could make a positive impact in Japan
