The Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative Information and Data Cooperative (GRIIDC) is a team of researchers, data specialists, and computer system developers who are supporting the development of a data management system to store scientific data generated by Gulf of Mexico researchers. Proper data management during the course of a project can facilitate data sharing through national data archives. If data are not properly managed, they may be lost or improperly documented, preventing the researcher from sharing and getting credit for work completed.

This workshop is for HRI students and will provide information about data management best practices including how to back up your data, preferred file types and names, how to create proper documentation for your dataset, and proper ways to format Excel spreadsheets.
