Mark your calendars for an adventure into the wondrous ocean during the spring 2017 Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Distinguished Speaker Series featuring Dr. Sylvia Earle, Oceanographer and Explorer. Join us for her talk titled, “Exploring and Caring for Earth’s Magnificent Ocean,” on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 8-9:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Ticket prices range from $30 to $150.

A free Student Forum will take place before the Distinguished Speaker Series event from 2-3 p.m. on the same day.

Earle is a Founding Advisory Board Chair for the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She is also a National Geographic explorer-in-residence, a Time Magazine’s first Hero of the Planet and a Library of Congress Living Legend. She is a leader of the National Geodetic Survey Sustainable Seas Expeditions, founder of Mission Blue/Sylvia Earle Alliance, founder of Deep Ocean Exploration and Research, a founding Ocean Elder and former Chief Scientist of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
