This workshop will be introducing the public to the Texas General Land Office's (TGLO) new living shoreline guidance manual and permitting process. This manual hopes to help coastal property owners understand the benefits of living shorelines as an alternative to traditional shoreline stabilization techniques (like riprap and bulkheads) and goes over the process of permitting and construction.

They will cover the guidance document, how to access it, how to conduct a site assessment and survey, and give examples of successful living shorelines. HRI will be presenting the living shoreline site suitability model that was put together for the TGLO as part of this effort. The model’s output is integrated into an online map tool that will allow users to explore which type of living shoreline technique is best suited for their property.

This workshop will be given by HRI's Geospatial Sciences Research and Reporting Analyst Marissa Dotson.
