Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Program in Baffin Bay

Principal Investigator

A volunteer sampling program was created by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) in spring 2013 to collect monthly water quality samples in Baffin Bay. The objective of this project is to continue the sampling that was started with volunteers to maintain strategic water quality sampling in Baffin Bay.

TAMUC-CC shall collect water quality samples at six stations throughout Baffin Bay. Each station will be visited once per month, weather conditions permitting. A YSI sonde will be used and grab samples will be taken. The sonde will collect salinity, temperature, DO, and pH.  Grab samples will collect inorganic nutrients, total dissolved nitrogen/organic carbon, chlorophyll, and phytoplankton.
