Devin is an M.S. student in Dr. Pollack's Coastal Conservation and Restoration Ecology lab. She is a Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems (CCME) scholar, funded by a research fellowship granted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Educational Partnership Program. Her research explores the efficacy of oyster reef restoration projects by comparing the faunal community, growth and recruitment of restored versus natural reefs in both intertidal and subtidal habitats. She is also testing the ecosystem function of restored reefs built of biodegradable materials versus those built of plastic materials by conducting cost-benefit analyses. Devin defended her undergraduate honors thesis research at Louisiana State University, which analyzed differential gene expression of oysters exposed to acute environmental stressors.
