Felimon Gayanilo, M.S.
Felimon Gayanilo is a Systems Architect working on various projects with the Harte Research Institute. He has over three decades of experience is the design, development and deployment of information systems in a local, national, regional and international settings before he joined Texas A&M University in 2012 from University of Miami. Among his many accomplishments include the publication of the FiSAT, a compendium of analytical routines for fisheries stock assessment and management, distributed by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations. He is also instrumental in the design, development and management of the Gulf of Mexico Coastal and Ocean Observing System (GCOOS) data portal supported by the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) program of NOAA, and initiated the design and development of the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative Information and Data Cooperative (GRIIDC). He is a co-PI to the NSF/EarthCube project on Cross Domain Observational Metadata Environmental Sensing Network (X-DOMES), and lead PI on a project to design the marine mammal health monitoring information system for the Marine Mammal Commission. He is a member of several advisory groups and professional organizations including IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, NOAA’s Environmental Disaster Data Management (EDDM) WG, and chairman of the NSF-funded DataONE User Group.
