Lexie Neffinger is a Master’s student working in the Coastal Conservation and Restoration Ecology lab of Dr. Jennifer Pollack. Her thesis project will focus on developing an Index of Biological Integrity, a metric for evaluating the level of disruption in a biological community, for tidal streams along the south Texas coast. Lexie graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Science from Fordham University, where she developed a passion for confronting anthropogenic stressors on the environment. After graduation, she dove into aquatic research and conservation, working for Crater Lake National Park’s long-term limnological research and monitoring program and Yellowstone National Park’s lake trout control and monitoring team. Lexie hopes her thesis project will help to inform management and conservation efforts for Texas’ coastal resources.
