Richard A. Davis, Jr., Ph.D. is a research associate at Harte Research Institute working with the Geospatial Sciences team under Dr. James Gibeaut. He is recently the author of a book titled Beaches of the Gulf Coast in the Harte Research Institute book series published by Texas A&M University Press. Dr. Davis graduated with a B.S. in Geology from Beloit College, earned his M.A. degree in Geology from the University of Texas and his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. He taught for 40 years before joining HRI in 2006. He was a Fulbright fellow, author/co-author of about 200 research publications, author/editor of 23 books on oceanography, coastal geology and sedimentary geology.
