Ryan Rubino is a Master's student and NOAA CCME Scholar in the Fisheries and Mariculture Program working with Dr. Joe Fox on oyster aquaculture.  He earned his B.S. in Marine Science from the University of Connecticut in 2017.  After graduating, he worked with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on their Long Island Sound bottom trawl survey.  There, he worked aboard the state research vessel and in the lab processing and aging numerous fish species including Scup, Menhaden, Bluefish, Fluke, and American Shad.  When not working on the trawl survey, he also worked regularly with their sturgeon tagging, CT River seining, angler surveying, and trout hatchery projects. In addition to working for the State of Connecticut, Ryan also worked as a divemaster for a reef conservation group in Thailand and with NOAA error checking commercial fisheries data in Gloucester, MA.  At HRI, he will be conducting research on oysters and
oyster aquaculture with the hopes of someday working in either the field of fisheries or aquaculture
after completing his master's degree.
