Sportfish populations in the estuaries and offshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico support a multibillion-dollar recreational fishing industry. This lecture will feature some of the Sportfish Center’s key research contributions since being established in 2013 as well as highlight some ongoing and upcoming projects to address current fishery management needs.

REGISTRATION CLOSED - Join HRI’s Sink Your Shucks program at Goose Island State Park to help rebuild an oyster reef in Aransas Bay!  Volunteers will work stations to bag recycled oyster shell then place them into the bay.

Hosted by TAMU-CC Dive Operations, guest lecturer Dr. Fernando Calderon Gutierrez will share about his work diving the subterranean estuaries of the Yucatan Peninsula and how these diving activities have contributed to knowledge of these unique environments.
